On the Path…straggle

what to write what to write.

The Hazel Project will be one year old very soon and I’ve been thinking of what to write to mark that. I’ve had requests.

Here’s one.

Last week coming home from the Hollywood Farmer’s market I saw a jolting image that diverted my eyes off traffic. AS I was slowing for a red light I saw a flash of white from the sidewalk. It turned out to be a very large woman sitting on a bus stop bench hiking up her underwear. I mean as if she had NONE and just bought SOME. I was wondering why there, in Hollywood? facing Sunset Blvd. traffic?

She struggled to get them on probably because of their overall size. At one point it looked like it could be camping equipment! I was so shocked that it was happening. I just began to sift through my naive mind of all the possible predicaments that could happen where changing one’s underwear on a busstop bench would be best. Where the mind just says, “Out of all other possiblities, I find it is the bus stop bench where I must change!” Instead of behind a store. Or; perhaps in a store? I’m still wondering. I felt embarrassed for her that she found that to be the place. I was embarrassed for me to have witnessed it.

As the Asherby’s told me many times… “Only in L.A. Steve, only in L.A.”

Thanks for checking in
