on the freeway…stopped

Hello everyone,

Since I’m a few days behind on the posts, I’m going to try to do a few short ones over the next couple of days. Davak & Larry have been asking me to do this as well.

Saturday I got my new phone, -I’ll send everyone the new no.- called TIm and got on the freeway to head to Echo Park. Echo Park is more like a neighborhood of L.A. than it is it’s own town. I called Tim And told him I’d be there in 40 minutes.

My Uncle who lives in orange, told me to always fill up the car with gas before you get on the freeway because you never know if you’ll end up stuck somewhere. A lot of people run out of gas sitting in traffic.
I knew I didn’t want to get my first finger gesture for that, so I filled up
at a station before the freeeway. 3.15/ gal.

The L.A. Freeway seems to run at 80 mph. Signs say otherwise but the flow of traffic is 80. I guess people go this fast becasue everything is spread out; Or it could be to make up for lost time for being stuck somewhere else.

It was hot, but I was happy to be headed to echo park, and about my shiny new phone. I turned on my sirius traffic report and up ahead of me was an overturned suv. a fatality involved.

Traffic began to slow and then it stopped.

My first traffic jam on the freeway.

People were very interested in the overturned suv; lots of rubber-necking. I got to Tim’s an hour and a half later.

I still had all my stuff in my car and Tim knew of a good place nearby for storage. I got the very last 5×5 unit.

Tim said it was the easiest move he’s ever participated in!

The re-aquirement of things began with an office table another tennant disposed of in the hallway. I set it up in my unit to create a little shelf for the more fragile things. It will be perfect later as my first piece of furniture.

Thanks for checking in,

Stephen A. Thomas

Nothing like castoffs. I’m getting ready to buy a new lawnmower and leave mine out by the curb. I know the Mexicans down the street will take it and use it well. It has serious problems, but I bet they can fix it. I live in a multi-ethnic neighborhood in Mississippi; how weird is that?
